About the owners and the Lodge

The original part of our Lodge was built in 1860 for Augustus Leaser, a Confederate Commander. It was sold off and a small development was built next door. It was purchased again and underwent 10 years of extensive renovations making it what it is today. A beautiful 4500 square foot home with 6 fireplaces and a beautiful kitchen where we serve breakfast. The Lodge is run by my wife Karen and Myself, John. As you can see by the picture to the right that we are a fun loving couple, we were shooting pictures announcing “Shotgun Weddings” for a local magazine. Over the past 5 years we have earned and attained a 5 Star rating with Airbnb and we have hosted travelers from all over the world. Our goal is to welcome everyone and to make them feel comfortable during their stay. We have a wonderful dog, Bear, who meets and greets everyone. Bear is a 14 year old Flat Coat retriever and Chow mix that everyone loves. It is because of Bear that we do not allow other Pets in our home. Bear is very territorial and marking territories would not make for a pleasant stay. We have a large front porch with lots of seating and a 1500 square foot raised deck in the back of the house. The back deck is features a Vita Spa Hot tub, fire place, Weber gas grill and an large eating table. All of our guests are welcome to use any of these amenities. The Lodge is situated on a busy road but it is very quiet after about 8pm, except on Thursday nights, that’s race night just down the road and the cars going to and from the track are usually loaded with high testosterone pumped drivers. We have never had a guest complain about the traffic but we like to let people know.

Karen and John offer a “Shotgun” wedding to those interested. John is an ordained Minister and can preform weddings and vow renewals.

Bear is our sweet “watchdog”, he watches everything that goes on, especially near the chicken coop! He runs from window to window when an unwanted critter enters the area.
